Cinema for me is…

Lucija in 11 frames

1. What film made you fall in love with cinema?
Roman Holiday (William Wyler, US, 1953)

2. What are the 3 best European films you have seen in the last year?
Malena (Giuseppe Tornatore, IT, 2000)
Beau Travail (Claire Denis, FR, 1999)
Festen (Thomas Vinterberg, DK, 1997)

3. What does Europe mean to you?
The first thing that Europe is to me is home. Europe is the foundation of culture as we know it and a force that sets an example for the rest of the world, be it in a cultural sense, a political one or any other.

4. In 2024, I think it is important to vote in the European elections because:
Through elections we decide the future of Europe, the way it progresses in its views. With voting we can help shape our future in the way we want to see it develop.

5. What do you like the most about your country that makes it unique?
Croatia has a lot of different things that makes it unique, but my favourite is the natural diversity. Croatia is not a big country but it has natural beauties that are immeasurable. In its limited area, it is a home to mountains, various lakes, a sea, a desert, plains and hills.

6. Your favorite film theatre? What do you like about it?
My favorite film theatre is Urania. This film theatre has a specific old timey charm. It is not too large, nor is it too small. You can get lost in the anonymity of the seats and the rest of the visitors, but you can also feel like you belong to a community of film fans.

7.  What is your dream job in the film industry?
Set manager or talent agent.

8. Which film director would you like to be?
Wes Anderson (The Grand Budapest Hotel, The French Dispatch, …)

9. Which film character do you most identify with?
The Bride (Kill Bill) or Clarice Starling (Silence of the Lambs) but a little more goofy.

10. Your favorite soundtrack or song?
Purple Rain (Albert Magnoli, US, 1984).

11. If you had to live in a movie, which one would you like it to be?
The Grand Budapest Hotel (Wes Anderson, US, 2014) or Mamma Mia! (Phyllida Lloyd, US, 2008)
