Estonia – Kino Artis (Tallinn)

Artis is now a 13-year-old cinema theatre celebrating its birthday in October 2022. In 2013, Artis received the Best Programming Award from Europa Cinemas. In the last few years several new cinemas opened in the region and while other cinemas in our neighborhood have lost clientele, we had a record year of visitors in 2015 and the attendance has been stable since. We believe it’s due to good communication with our different target groups, excellent planning strategy and a wide selection of films to choose from.

We are located in the very center of Tallinn and our 181 and 72 seats cinema halls primarily screen European films in their regular programming, special film events and film weeks. Our visitors vary from very small children to seniors. Artis is open throughout the year and people have come to trust our taste in films. The most common feedback from our clients is that they visit Artis for the unique selection of movies and popcorn free screenings.

We work with different Embassies, cultural organizations, schools, kindergartens and of course local distributors. Also very important in our programming are Estonian feature films and documentaries which are doing better and better each year. Some of them find a way to screens all over Estonia and for some of them, we are the sole exhibitor.

We are especially proud of our Senior Screenings which have been a big part of our programme from the very beginning. Films for our more mature guests take place twice a week in the mornings, both for Estonian and Russian viewers. Before the film we introduce a special guest connected to the film’s subject. For Estonian movies, the guest is usually a cast or crew member of the film.

Young audiences come to our cinema mostly for the school screenings which are accompanied by educational material for later use in the classroom. The films we screen for schools are suitable for specific ages and the themes are connected to the school programme.

We are happy to work with European films, represent different cultures and promote tolerance.
