3. What does Europe mean to you?
Best balance between benefitting and being exploited by neoliberalism.
4. In 2024, I think it is important to vote in the European elections because:
I don’t think it is important. I vote in elections, but do not feel the need to pontificate about the importance of elections to others.
5. What do you like the most about your country that makes it unique?
Just like with relationships with people, I undergo waves of affection and repulsion. Currently, I am not very fond of my country, but one cannot deny the pastoral beauty of its countryside.
6. Your favorite film theatre? What do you like about it?
It’s a cinema theatre in Riga, Latvia called “Splendid Palace”. Some of the first films in the world were screened there shortly after their premiere in France. The interior design is unmatched combining elements of baroque and art nouveau.
7. What is your dream job in the film industry?
I want to write screenplays and direct films based on those.
8. Which film director would you like to be?
Steven Soderbergh (Erin Brokovich, Ocean’s Eleven, …) – I cannot imagine what it must have been like to get a Palm d’Or at the age of 26 for your debut picture.
9. Which film character do you most identify with?
Jep Gambardella, the protagonist of the La Grande Bellezza (Paolo Sorrentino, IT, 2013).
10. Your favorite soundtrack or song?
All songs from Perfect Days (DE, 2023) by Wim Wenders. And “Thus Spoke Zarathustra” from 2001: A Space Odyssey (Stanley Kubrick, GB, 1968).
11. If you had to live in a movie, which one would you like it to be?
Prometheus (Ridley Scoot, US, 2012)
