Cinema for me is…

Iva in 10 frames

1. What film made you fall in love with cinema?
I don’t think any film particularly made me fall in love with the cinema. It was years later when I thought about how I just stared at the screen with no thoughts about what time it is or how long have I been watching. I think the beauty of emotions was what made me fall in love with it.

2. What are the 3 best European films you have seen in the last year?
Climax
Angel – A
The Danish Girl

3. What does Europe mean to you?
For me, it’s a place where cultural diversity is still very important. A place that respects every nation’s individuality. What I love most about Europe is that despite all of its cultural differences it brings all of it together in a very smart and unique way.

4. What do you like the most about your country that makes it unique?
I love how we think about others and how we like to share and bring joy to others. I like how the young people are very loud and brave in the sense of making it a better country. We have so much potential and I am so proud of the young people who are learning from others and are putting their perspectives out there to make it a better place.

5. Your favorite film theatre? What do you like about it?
Kino Urania – Osijek. I’m a more stay-at-home person, but what I like about Kino Urania is that it’s still very unique and has such a great atmosphere. I love the main movie room, but what I like the most is the small room on the right with the white brick walls, filled with flyers of oldies. Every movie I watched there felt special. Oh, and popcorn, of course!

6. What is your dream job in the film industry?
Acting and directing. Cheers to that!

7. Which film director would you like to be?
There are a lot of good directors that are very unique and that give their sense of openness to the movie industry and art. If I had to specify which ones opened my eyes in a sense of, okay, this is what I really like is Wesley Wales (Wes) Anderson. I don’t think I would ever want to be him but I think, from a viewer’s point of view, he brought to me the perspective of a very clean, playful, and innovative cinema.

8. Which film character do you most identify with?
I feel like there are fragments of a lot of charachters in which I found bits and pieces of myself but, if I really have to choose then it’s Clementine from Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

9. Your favorite soundtrack or song?
I love music and to be honest, it really depends on the mood I want to set for myself or the day/week/situations I have going on in my life.

10. If you had to live in a movie, which one would you like it to be?
Alice in Wonderland or Maleficient or Avatar or some fiction based that is filled with nature, and flowers, and water and clouds and everything else that is freeing, and beautiful.
