In the last scene of Cold War (Pawel Pawlikowski,2018, PL) , we watch Zula and Wiktor sit side by side on a bench, which seems to be in the middle of nowhere in the country. We hear the calming sounds of nature and watch the two tragic lovers waiting patiently for their lives to come to an end. This scene portrays the beautiful, yet bitter end of two souls that were painfully connected, thought their lifelines only aligned for only very few and precious moments. So they choose to die together and to remain united, for what they believe will be, forever.
