Bulgaria – G8 Cultural Centre (Sofia)

G8 _

Opened in 2014, Cultural Centre G8 is a private art house cinema and also a venue for special events related to the cinema and the wider world of visual and performing arts. G8 Cinema is equipped with three screening rooms, a hall for presentations, a small museum of cinema, a café and a garden, which in summer turns to an outdoor cinema (G8 Kino Dvor). Our mission is to promote film culture through a diverse selection and exhibition of high-quality films from all over the world. New releases, classics, independent, documentaries or shorts are part of our regular programme and of different cinematic events – festivals, film clubs and weeks, school screenings.

The venue also provides a variety of accompanying events such as discussions, concerts, exhibitions which are also a key factor in attracting, building and developing new audiences. Young spectators are welcome to G8 Cinema not only with the diverse film programme and special price policy, but also with interesting events. A similar initiative was the recently organized workshop “How to make my first animated character of modeling”. The cinema also supports the development of young cinema specialists as future projectionists and artists by providing them a technical assistance and a stage on which they can improve their skills and present their works.  The museum and the small library invite our guests to stay in the cinema and enjoy the stories of Sofia film theatres, history of film equipment, aesthetic and art.
